# Create deals

Use deals in HubSpot to track potential revenue. Create a deal when a contact takes an action that could lead to revenue, such as booking a meeting with you to discuss your product or service.

When created, a deal record should be associated with the [contacts](/hubspot-crm/contacts/create-contacts.md) and [companies](/hubspot-crm/companies/create-companies.md) that are involved with the deal. This helps HubSpot with [associating the relevant activities to the deal record](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/contacts/associate-activities-with-records).

## Create a deal from a contact or company record

When you're interacting with someone through their [contact or company record](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/contacts/a-guide-to-using-records) via [call](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/calling/use-the-calling-tool) or [email](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/email/send-and-reply-to-one-to-one-emails), you may want to create a deal when there is an opportunity for potential revenue.

To create a deal from the contact or company record:

* In the right panel of the contact or company record, next to *Deals*, click **+ Add**.

* To create a new deal:
  * Enter the **details** for your new deal in the *Create a new deal* tab. By default, the deal will be associated to the contact or company record. Learn more about [how you can pull in the timeline activity from the contact and company records](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/contacts/associate-activities-with-records#associate-multiple-activities-to-a-new-deal-or-ticket).
  * Once you're done, click **Create**. A new deal will be created.
* If there are existing deals that you want to associate the contact to:
  * Click the **Add existing deal** tab.
  * In the search box, enter **terms** to identify the existing deal.
  * Select the **deals** you want associated to the contact or company record.
  * Click **Save**.

The new or existing deal will be associated with the record. Learn more about the [activities that will be associated to these different records](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/contacts/associate-activities-with-records).

## Create a deal from your deals home

To create a deal manually:

* In your HubSpot account, navigate to **Sales** > **Deals**.
* In the upper right, click **Create deal**.
* In the right panel, enter the **details** of the deal.
* In the *Associate deal with* section, search for and select the **company** and **contact** the deal is related to. Learn how to [include existing activities in your company and contact records in the new deal record](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/contacts/associate-activities-with-records#associate-multiple-activities-to-a-new-deal-or-ticket).
* Click **Create deal**. If you want to create another deal, click **Create and add another** instead.

## Create a deal using a workflow

If you have access to [workflows](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/workflows/create-contact-based-workflows), you can [automatically trigger a deal creation](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/workflows/how-can-i-create-deals-with-a-workflow) when a contact, or another object, meets certain conditions. For example, if a contact meets a certain value in a [score property](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/contacts/set-up-score-properties-to-qualify-leads), a deal could automatically be created and assigned to your sales team.
